There is a new development every day when it comes to new gadgets. Some of them are wackier then others. One gadget that is on the practical side are the Digital Luggage scales. These are used to weigh your luggage as accurately as the airport. It is just a hand held device with a cord that you dangle the luggage from. The reason this device is so valuable is that it can save you on being charged for having baggage that is a pound or two over.

If you like to play Texas Hold ‘Em or Omaha you might be interested to know that they now have an entity called a Robotic Poker Dealer. The dealer perches at the top of a poker table and shuffles and dispenses the cards to the various players as needed.

There are a number of computer desks that get covered in dirt, dust and various bits of junk like small staples. A computer mouse that is also a small vacuum has invented. Called the Computer Cleaner mouse it allows you to pick up debris and dust from your keyboard or desk top as needed.

Just when you thought there wasn’t another way that they could come up with a way to conceal a USB drive they invented USB Flash Drive Cufflinks. These cuff links have a 2GB flash drive built in (1Gb on each wrist I believe) and are the work of designer Tonia Welter and Julia Reym.

Even weirder is the USB home pregnancy test. This of course is a novelty item. However it looks exactly like a home pregnancy tester complete with blue and pink strips and thermometer style white plastic construction.

Have you ever longed to go fishing but just did not happen to have a fishing rod on you at the time? You might want to take a look a the Pen Fishing Rod. This is a clever little gadget is about the size of a large marker pen that is only eight inches long, and yet opens up to become an aluminum alloy 4ft fishing rod, complete with a left and right handed reel. Don’t think this could be a sturdy fishing rod as well. It has a 5 lb breaking strain line, and even includes a triple hook spinner. Never again will you be caught short when you spot a great place to fish on one of your long walks through the park.

Nothing beats what is happening with the new Bluetooth microphones. This is a tiny transmitter, powered by a small solar panel into a crevice in your tooth. It picks up vibrations in your teeth and translates them to whoever is listening so your speech can be understood. Is there some kind of ramification to this dentally? Ask your dentist to see if there is any way that this type of gadget might harm your teeth.

There have been quite a few really crazy gadgets come out lately. One of them is called the Facebank. This is a really creepy looking piggy bank. It looks like the Cookie Monster without the fur and it “eats” any coins you put in it with a life like chewing motion. It is run by a robot and not exactly silent motor.

Thinking of traveling and want to stay calm and relaxed? Why not try an Aromatherapy Travel Pillow. This type of travel pillow is inflatable and there is a section in it is like a fan. You insert a small piece of foam that is saturated with oil into the travel pillow and it blows healing fumes on you as you travel. Scents available include orange, lavender and rose. The punt is that it is supposed to help you snooze. When deflated it can be kept in your pocket.

Are you a smoker who also needs a USB drive all the time. IF so then you might want to check out the new lighters which come with the drive in them. They are also quite chic, like the old Zippo lighters and have embossed cow skulls on them. This is one gadget that certainly kills two birds with one stone. You can light up a cancer stick while at the same time backing up your hard drive.

If you are a fan of practical jokes then you might want to try the Shocking Digital Camera. This device looks just like a modern day point and shoot camera but it is actually a prank. It is a twist on the old joy buzzer. Basically the minute anyone tries to take a picture with it they get zapped by a mild jolt of electricity.

Want to get even with urban development. Then you might want to check out the Bloom Gadget. This is an incredible gadget because it fits on the back of your bike and blows what looks like bubbles through the air. However inside each Bloom bubble is a tiny seed that grows weeds. This will have your neighbor outside weeding all of the wild plants that start growing up in between the cracks in the sidewalk.

Emoticon keyboards which look like flat square blocks are made specifically for using on instant messaging programs. This is where every word is shortened and every emotion is expressed with three symbols. A good example of this type of keyboard is the Emoticon keyboard.

Do you want your own robot that can work in the kitchen. Then you might want to meet The Chief Cook Robot. This robot helps you prepare a complete omelette. It looks like a little robot with a Chef’s hat on. The problem is that this type of robot needs to be trained by you personally or it will not learn anything at all. It can take hours to train it to do what you want and also say the commands that you want.

The surveillance industry is full of gadgets and one of the funniest to come out lately is something called the Unshredder. Well, you’ve heard of shredders. This sophisticated machine uses a scanning device to assess the contents of a scanned bin. This kind of gadget does not come cheap. It costs $950 a day to licence this.

Ever want to eavesdrop on a conversation? The latest in concealed recorders is actually an air freshener. The latest one on the market will record everything that is happening in a specific location for over 300 hours. It is both a visual and audio spying device. Of course it does not come cheap. It costs nearly two thousand dollars to buy one.

Another type of spy camera gadget is one that is hidden inside a device that looks just like the smoke detector in the room. These types can be wired up to a television later so you can watch the footage.

Really interesting is the under the door remote viewer which has a camera that ends under the door. It allows you to see what is behind a door before you even open it via a remote control device.

The latest in high tech commercial gadgetry has been created Aeryon Labs of Waterloo. This company has released the Aeryon Scout, a brand new invention which is still in its prototype stage. Four connected foam rings, with a rotor inside make up the Aeryon Scout. A camera is beneath it, where a thirty millimeter “quadrotor” is controlled by a remote control and it hovers and floats around can fly into places where it’s too difficult, dangerous or time-consuming for ordinary folk to go and snap a few shots. This is just in the development stages but it really is like a flying secret agent.

If you are a female secret agent you can get a device that Agent 99 from Maxwell Smart would be proud to own. It is called the Lipstick Stun Gun. This is a tube that looks like a lipstick and that can deliver $350,000 volts and shock and disable an attacker. Weirdly the lipstick in it is real as well so you can actually wear it.

Drug smugglers beware! Technology has been invented that can be seen through clothing. His unique camera has the special ability to detect various items such as weapons, drugs and even explosives hidden under one’s clothes from up to 25 meters away, making this a potential breakthrough where the security industry is concerned. Called the T5000 camera from ThruVision, it utilizes “passive imaging technology” that helps identify objects via their natural electromagnetic rays so that things like guns or drugs strapped to an abdomen are obvious.
