Do you live in a hotter climate but want some snow to play with. In that case you might want to try out the Snow At Home SG6-Xstream Snowmaker
This contraption is made by a snow making enthusiast named Matthew Pittman. Basically this thing is made of the same technology that is used to create snow makers at ski resorts. It is basically made out of a power washer, an air compressor and a garden hose. The snowmaker itself is just a contraption made out of pipes and nozzles to create “a personal snowmaker.” It is a great little device for converting your back yard into a sledder and snowball maker’s paradise.
Finally industrial designers have developed snow shovels that are ergonomically intended to save people from developing lower back problems. The Snow Job Plus is an electrical snow thrower that weight less than 12.5. That is less than most upright vacuum cleaners. You run it along your walk like a Hoover. It can clear a narrow path without too much snow but it cannot clear a foot high pile of wet snow from a big driveway. It can help you blow four to six inches of dry snow off the back deck or stairs.
If you are a skier or snowboarder then you might want to get a Hang Timer. This is a nifty gadget which looks like a pedometer but that is embedded with a tri-axis accelerometer. This type of device measures gravity and speed on three planes and it can help you measure the time that you spend in the air. This is true whether you are skiing, snowboarding or just making a long jump. This type of device is also compatible with the Apple iPhone.
You have probably heard of the homeless insulating their coats with newspapers to keep warm in the winter. There is now a coat based on that concept. It is called the Merrell Gatherer Jacket. This is a nylon jacket with expandable nylon pockets all over the torso that can stuffed by the material of your own choosing for keeping you warm. You can stuff it with newspapers, leaves, packing peanuts or even your spare clothes while hiking.
Also good for hiking or skiing is the Freestyle Audio Soundwave MP3 Player. This is a player that is water proof and shockproof. You can use it on sand, snow and sea. It is very tiny, about the size of Chicken McNuggett and it comes with waterproof earbuds, a USB cable, an ear clip and an arm strap.
Also on the technology front there is something called a Belkin SportCommand. This is a wearable remote controller for the iPod that can be strapped to your arm. It allows you to store your iPod safely in a pocket. It allows you to skip tune, pause or change the volume and it is easy to operate even if you are wearing a pair of your thickest gloves.
