Both the iPhone and the Blackberry are full featured phones. What is it that makes the two of them so different? Why do people fall so dramatically either into one camp or the other when it comes to these phones.

First of all the iPhone seems to be better looking even though the Blackberry is no slouch in the looks department itself. There is something very futuristic about the iPhone which has the touch tone screen. The void black space that icons seem to appear in is very appealing and futuristic.  It looks more like a toy than the Blackberry which looks more like a mini- lap top computer.

The email service on a Blackberry is supposed to be superior to the iPhone. It has a Microsoft Exchange server that downloads the message immediately on the phone. An LED light indicates that a new message has been received. The iPhone recognizes new message in fifteen minutes and needs to be checked manually by the user or it is ineffective.

The iPhone is very friendly to all kinds of different application. The Blackberry is made with older software that is difficult to create applications for. That is because the tools that are used to create these programs are a bit out of date.

The Blackberry browser is only a primitive one compared to the great Safari style browser of the iPhone. The iPhone browser seems to load pages more slowly than the Blackberry.

Every Blackberry ever made has the full QUERTY keyboard except for one model known as “The Storm.”  The iPhone has a virtual touch screen keyboard that takes some people some time to master.

The iPhone battery seems to run out faster than the battery on an iPhone. This makes it less reliable for corporate or emergency use. On the other hand the iPhone has better reception than the Blackberry.

The iPhone is more of a multimedia entertainment center than the Blackberry.  It is far ahead of any other device. The Blackberry camera is superior to the iPhone.  However when it comes to multimedia in general the Apple iPhone simply has more features.

In terms of usability there is a lot of contention about which phone is better. Blackberry users have a lot of short cut keys that allow them to complete tasks faster. TheiPhone keyboard is more intuitive and how well you adjust to using that keyboard might have a lot to do with whether or not you can operate it successfully. For instance if you have big fingers you might do better with a Blackberry and Stylus rather than fumbling constantly with the touchscreen of the iPhone.
