About The Sony Vaio Laptop Computer

VAIO, an acronym for Video Audio Integrated Operations, is the name that the Sony computer and electronics company chose to name a huge line of computers that they have been manufacturing since 1996. The acronym helps identify the company’s conventional computing products form those that that can also function both as a regular personal computer and a portable entertainment center.

What do the letters VAIO actually stand for? The VAIO logo uses the letters V and A to represent a cosine wave (that is identified with wireless machines) and the letters I and O to represent the numerals one and zero. It symbolizes Sony’s vision of entertainment and technology being in a state of “convergence” thanks to their advanced laptop technology. The melody that plays when you boot up a sony vaio laptop computer is actually the sound of what VAIO sounds like when those letters are punched into touchtone telephone.  This is the signature melody that identifies all of the products in the line when you first boot them up.

The VAIO brand name was first used to describe the desktop computers made by Sony (in the 1990s). Now this Sony name is expanded to include computer notebooks and a hard disk audio play called the VAIO pocket player that comes in both 20GB and 40GB versions.

This is a high-end notebook computer that runs with either Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft XP Home. Both these programs are usually pre-installed on a Sony Vaio laptop computer before you buy it but you can also buy them without any software at all for a much lower price. This is a good idea if you want to install Microsoft Windows Vista.

Another interesting and potentially business saving perk of the Sony Vaio laptop computer is that it comes with memory recovery system right inside it. It has a special partition on the hard drive that can be used for the recovery of information, including operating system and all bundled software.  This is an incredible advantage is you happen to lose your computer information while you are on the road as it acts as a kind of insurance against losing all of your work. Sony Vaio laptop computer users are prompted to create a set of recovery CDs or DVDs immediately after they purchase the computer as well. It is a good idea to take these with you on the road in case something goes wrong with built in partition recovery system as well.

Sony Vaio laptop computers come with all kinds of different components made by such companies such as Intel processors, Seagate Technology or Fujitsu hard drives, Infineon RAM, Sony (usually made by Hitachi) or Matsushita optical drives, Intel or NVIDIA graphics processors and Sony speakers.  It really is a portable computer that has been built from the best parts available on the market and a bit unusual too as it is such a hybrid of different components.
