One of the weirdest gadgets to come on the market lately is called a ghost detector. This is a bogus invention because it is just a little screen. Apparently if you detect a ghost in the area the button on the little ghost shaped screen lights up. It is a bit like a radar detector and it is meant to be clipped to a cell phone or key chain.

Dog buns are some of the weirdest inventions to come along. These are costumes that are designed to encase your Daschund or other small dog so that they look like a wiener. The costumes are made of soft, lightweight molded foam and contain two strips of Velcro that attach to the elastic harness. Each costume weighs about twenty ounces and costs about fifty bucks.

The Flying Alarm Clock is the best idea for those people who don’t mind jumping up in the air and running around to shut off an alarm. At the sound of the alarm the spinning piece takes off into the air and flies around the room making a high pitch annoying noise. This means hat to try and put it back on the base. And if you hit snooze you have to do the whole thing all over again. It is about thirty five bucks.

The beer company Miller is now marketing a new can for their beer products/The I. C Can (Instant Cool Can) from Tempera Technology is a real self-refrigerating can. It has been proven to lower beverage temperature by a minimum of 30° F (16.7° C) in just three minutes! When activated the natural desiccant contained in a vacuum draws heat from the beverage through the evaporator into an insulted heat container, which then significantly drops the temperature of the beverage. No more sticking a beer in the fridge to expect it to be frosty. The Illuminated Umbrella from Bright Night, featured in In Style magazine, is an umbrella
It contains a bright white krypton bulb underneath the umbrella that lights your way and keeps you dry. It’s constructed of a combination of denier nylon, Teflon, chrome, silver, polycarbonate and it only weighs sixteen ounces. All you need is 4 AA batteries and it will be kept lit for about forty rainy days!
Watur, designed by Daniel Harper, is an actual door made of constantly flowing water. The water spills down the front in sheets. It consists of a frame with a catch basin at the bottom to catch the falling water. It will cost around two grand if you want to fit one on one of your own door frames.

Every day inventors come up with weirder and weirder gadgets and this month is no different than any other when it comes to being introduced to a plethora a very strange objects that are meant to make our life more convenient but instead it puzzling and more complex.

Take the computer scarf for example. This is a hoodie type sweater with an eyepiece from which stretches a big funnel shaped piece of fabric that fits tightly over your computer monitor. Designed for technology fans everywhere, this scarf/hood provides you with a private environment for your computer, cell phone or even gaming console. It was a project invented by Joe Malia who is an art student in London.

Not as silly but still a bit odd is the PlayEngine from the U.K.. This refers to a flimsy looking computer monitor made out of bamboo. . Not only are they low-plastic and lead free they also make you feel like you are in a tropical location. The monitors are available in fifteen, seventeen and nineteen inch sizes and range in price up to seven hundred dollars U.S..

In the very very bizarre category of recently invented gadgets is the Douchaise. This inflatable shower is designed by Daniel Harper and is a shower and chair in one. Basically it masquerades as a chair until you unfold it to discover that it is actually a fully functional shower with air supported walls. The base of the chair contains a blower, water heater, pump and filter which recycles water to reduce usage. Miraculously this thing has two rooms…one two shower in and another to dry off in. You can transform it back into a chair in just two minutes!
Bandai has invented a toy called PutiPuti, which emulates the sensation you get from popping bubble wrap along with the sound. So why is it different from just popping bubble wrap? For every 100 pops they throw in an unexpected noise such as a door bell, barking dog, fart or sexy voice. The PutiPuti comes in 5 colours and is attached to a key-chain so you can pretend to be popping bubble wrap.
The Trilobis 65 is a semi-submerged twenty metre long boat/submarine designed by Giancarlo Zema. It was created to accommodate six people and has four separate levels connected by a spiral staircase.
This is a self sufficient non pollutant house set up in Vancouver and funded by a company called Underwater Vehicles.
. The location may seem like an unusual choice, but the region has the two essential ingredients needed to make the Trilobis project a success. The first is its wealth of small inlets and bays. The second is a pool of wealthy yacht owners, one of whom may be willing to invest the $4 million to $5 million it will take to launch yachting into the 21st century.” (Sub-Find)

Fuel Cell Gadget Chargers

There is a new small black box that can help recharge all of your gadgets. It is called a liquid fuel cell. You can use to do things like power up an iPod touch.

A good brand of fuel cell is called the Medis 24-7 Power Pack which is a portable charger for small electronic gadgets like a cell phone or an iPod.

Medis Technologies (the manufacturer) says that one Power Pack, can give you thirty hours of talk time on an average mobile phone or 60 to 80 hours of play time on an average iPod. That translates to about five or six full charges for an iPhone. A starter kit with adapters costs about forty bucks and a replacement pack is about twenty so it is a very economical charger to own.

There are also more on the go recharging units on the market to feed our power hungry, technologically sophisticated ways.  Almost every large electronics manufacturer is working on a new kind of fuel cell charger.

The Medis 24-7 Power Pack is one of, if not the, first liquid fuel-cell chargers for small devices. You can also expect versions for laptops within two to five years

One reason is because this is such a green way to power up your gadgets. No more batteries filling up our landfills and poisoning our environments.

Fuel cells that are also just neat. These used to be only found in designer cars and spacecraft. Now they are part of our every day life..

However as nifty as this is it is not really that potent when it comes to power. Medis and other portable charger makers say that this isn’t a replacement for your standard AC charger. Instead, think of it as a supplemental power source when you can’t get to a wall socket.

It’s a great thing to have if you need to add some talk time to a cell phone or get a couple of more hours of time on your laptap or music player. It weighs less than half a pound and is easily transported on a plane or a train.

There is also an Xtreme version of the Medis Power Pack. There is an Xtreme version that puts out four watts.  This helps bring a half charged iPod back to full power. The company promises that it charges at the same speed as an AC charger.

A fuel cell is not to be confused with a stand-alone battery. It can’t be recharged. You recycle it or refill a fuel cartridge.

Medis Technologies says that it’s a green product because everything in it can be recycled. It doesn’t use any toxic materials like the heavy metals used in batteries, complies with RoHS hazardous waste regulations, and doesn’t emit any harmful radiation or fumes.

The company encourages recycling by including packaging to send the device back to be recycled before buying a refilled pack.

There are a number of companies that are making liquid fuel cells using methanol, but the Medis charger uses a solution of sodium borohydride which comes from the earth.  This makes it a very green gadget!
