Gadgets can’t always be glamorous but there have been plenty over the years that are great despite their dullness.  Not everything is as cool as the Apple iPod but that does not mean it is not a great gadget!  In fact some of the plainest of gadgets in our lives are the ones that we cannot live without, yet they make substantial improvements in our actual quality of life.

A good example of this kind of completely unglamorous but absolutely useful gadget is the Bye Bye Standbye. This is a remote that you press a red button on and it shuts down all of the plugs and power strips that power up the television,computer and audio equipment that you own.  It also saves power and you don’t have to crawl around on the floor and under desks to shut things off. It is a great gadget for an elderly person to own because everything is shut off  and turned on at once.  You just don’t have to deal with several switches anymore.

Yet another great gadget is the Kameleon Universal Remote Control.  This gadget sets up everything. You can use it to switch everything on including your satellite, the AV channel and your stereo. You can also use it to turn up the audio and change the channels.  This way you can get rid of all of the unnecessary remotes in your home and just operate everything from one central command remote.

Yet another boring but great gadget is the Kensington SlimBlade keyboard. This is a low action smaller keyboard that is light.  The number pad and multimedia remote connect to the main keyboard using magnets which is completely handy.

Another good durable gadget is the Proporta portable charger which you can use to recharge anything in your entire gadget collection. These are electric and solar in nature. They can actually charge just about any type of little gadget that you have in the house. They are also great to bring along on camping trips.

Sanyo Eneloop batters are also boring yet clever.  These rechargeable batteries not only save money but you are never left without power for the rest of your gadgets including your universal remote, the Kensington Slimblade and everything else.  These are pretty batteries so they are kind of cool looking. In terms of appearance have the energizer type beat all the way!

So what is the best boring every day gadget ever invented in history!  Our vote is for the microwave!  Nothing has ever been as convenient since – except for perhaps the Starfrit  Vegetable Chopper or the Shamwow!
