LED Gadgets

LED stands for ‘light-emitting diode,’ and it’s the technology behind all of these awesome contemporary lit-up designs. LED lights have been used in everything from tattoos (yes, really) to furniture design.
If you want to light up your next party try making ice bulbs. An Ice Bulb is basically a ball of ice with a LED light in it, but the effect itself looks pretty intriguing. The designer describes, “You make it by placing the contraption inside water, which is placed inside a balloon, which is placed inside your freezer. These are casually called Ice Bulbs.

Speaking of illumination you can now also get large drippy looking “wax” candles that are actually plastic. They look like a candle burning because they have a diode inside. This type of candle definitely reduces the risk of fire. A tipped over candle need never be a concern again.

A great idea is the new illuminated banisters. These look exactly like regular banisters but they illuminated from within.

One of the weirdest things that you can get is LED eyelashes. These are big in Japan. These are false eyelashes above which are fitted tiny glowing diodes. You can wear them above or below the eyeliner.
If that is not enough you can now get LED tattoos. The tattoo design features silicone implants with LEDs in them. This concept was developed by Researchers from MIT, the University of Pennsylvania and Illinois. Unlike traditional inked tattoos, the LED tattoos main purpose won’t be to make a fashion statement.

They were originally invented for medical purposes, like displaying blood-sugar readings on skin. This is made possible by embedding an electronic silicon transistor under the skin.

The main research focus is on epilepsy, but also encompasses “implantable neurodevices, functional neurosurgery, network and computational neuroscience, movement disorders, intra-operative and ICU monitoring, major mental illness, and other brain network disorders.
